Gulfstream: 10 Years of Making business easy- Aspire Magazine

Gulfstream’s membership of the South African Petroleum Industry Association (SAPIA) is a point of pride, and goes back five years. SAPIA has been fulfilling the role of proactively engaging with key stakeholders in the industry for the past 25 years, ensuring that a range of issues relating to the refining, distribution and marketing of petroleum and LPG products are addressed.

“It’s interesting to see how significantly the number of independents in South Africa has grown over the past few years. There are now over 100 independents that operate in the sector – an impressive figure, given that the association was dominated by oil majors when it was established. Clearly, we have a valuable contribution to make to the industry. This is evidenced further by the presence of a representative of the non-refining distributors on SAPIA’s Board, making sure our voice is heard,” says Shane Jegels, cofounder of Gulfstream.

Since non-refining distributors are the fastest growing group within the industry, it’s important that they are recognised – and, as one of the largest independents in South Africa, Gulfstream definitely has a role to play here.
